The University of Bremen is a lively young university founded in 1971.
It currently has about 22 000 students distributed over the campus area in the North of Bremen.
The Mensa offers a variety of affordable meals for lunch and also a cafeteria for a quick snack or a relaxed cup of coffee between courses. Meal plan for today can be found here.
The University library is divided into the main building and smaller libraries located in the individual departments. The Department of Physics and Engineering has recently opened a new library that is located in the building that houses the Institute of Environmental Physics. It features not only books and a wide range of journals but also wireless internet access for online research and plenty of room to work.
To keep in shape and meet other people, the Hochschulsport offers the opportunities for all kinds of sport activities from swimming to aerobics to soccer and even unicycle courses.
For students from abroad and also German students who wish to take a semester overseas, the International Office is offering information, support, and some dedicated activities.
Most students live in flats in the city area. There are however also dormitories for students on campus or close by. Information (in German) can be found here. We also can assist you in finding accomodations in the university housing.
The elected students council represents the interests of the students in all University matters and also runs service programs from child care to counselling as well as activities.
